Alzheimer's is a life shortening form of death but typically people die from complications of Alzheimer's or dementia.


The most common cause of death from Alzheimer's is Aspiration pneumonia.

This occurs when food, saliva, liquids, or vomit is breathed into the lungs or airways leading to the lungs.

One of the most frequent complications and causes of death from Alzheimer's disease is aspiration pneumonia.

3 Caregivers Rob Woman with Alzheimer's and Now She Might Lose Her Home

Three people are accused of trying to exploit an 81-year-old woman with Alzheimer's.


A case of elder abuse of a person living with Alzheimer's
Her husband passed away in 2012, and authorities say they took over as her caregiver.

The police report shows the three used:
  • her bank and credit card accounts to pay their own bills
  • and stopping the payments on her mortgage.
The woman's home is now foreclosed.

I just finished reading an interesting article in the Boston Globe about a program this is designed to help caregivers and their loved after a diagnosis of probable Alzheimer's.

The dementia care consultation program is a joint venture of the Tufts Health Plan, and the Alzheimer’s Association of Massachusetts and New Hampshire. Already, hundreds of families have been referred to the program by physicians.
